Mimu Travel, Turkey (Geyikbayiri)

Unlike the rest of our trip, Geyikbayiri, Geyik in short was a distinguished and separate chapter of our trip.

We were expecting to be in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by wild nature, totally cut from the rest of the world. In reality we really turned out to be surrounded by marvelous nature, but definitely not lost miles away from civilization. Camps are right at the bottom of the Geiykbayiri town itself, which allows to hitchhike to the closest towns for markets or Antalya even and keep in touch with the rest of the world. There also are couple of the local families that offer local delights and have tiny cafes straight on the road on your way to and back from the climbing-highlining areas. They are extremely friendly and hospitable.

By it’s nature, Geyik camps are international Climber, hiker, highliner camps, being there it doesn’t really feel like you’re in Turkey, as locals are in minority, you can hardly hear Mola preying there…There are Climbers Garde, Rido Camp and Josito with it’s new area – The Land, which offer accomodation and food, there is also one, the name we do not really remember. Camps offer bungalow stay as well as camp place and camp rental, all in affordable prices. Connection and comunications, wi-fi, etc is available all around in the camps.

Turkish Highline Carnival – our main target event has gathered people from all over the world, starting from close neighbour countries, like us (Georgia), up to western Europe. It assembled hundreds of people including slackline discoverers and founders, worldwide known athletes, to keep it short beaumonde of it’s sort, but those sport “celebrities”, which are visible on the most significant red bull events and keep audience breathless watching them do not behave like beaumonde at all… Simple, sharing camping or porridge in the morning with you, they readily shared their advises and consultations throughout the whole event.
As a beginners in the whole story we didn’t really succeed in the highlining, it was more sitting on teh line instead of walking, but xp itself was valuable on the one hand for skill development and on the other hand making new connection and getting to know those, who dictate trends and play a core part in the sport development.
